Magento Pre-Launch Checklist
Magento’s search-friendly ecommerce shopping cart offers some powerful SEO and customization opportunities. Here’s a quick and easy checklist to use when setting up your Magento shopping cart:
1. Images:
a. Favicon: Update the favicon logo (your Magento favorites icon). For information on updating the favicon,
see Changing the Magento ‘favicon’ on the Magento Commerce website.
For default themes, save the icon to
/skin/frontend/default/default/favicon.ico directory.
For custom themes, save the icon to /skin/frontend/default/CUSTOM_THEME/favicon.ico directory.

Dog image: Update or remove the dog image.
If you are using the default theme, the dog image is located in the
app/design/frontend/default/default/template/callouts folder.
2. 404 update: Update your 404 error page.
3. Email:
a. Customize all email templates to reflect your company's look and feel.
b. Make sure your Magento email server is functioning correctly.
c. Check that order email confirmations are working properly.
4. Credit card information:
a. To make sure no credit card information is stored on the server,
go to
System --> Configuration --> Payment Methods --> Saved CC,
and click to select No in the Enabled field.
b. Make sure you can pass credit card information.
c. Verify that your store is connected to your gateway provider. Most providers have a "test mode" setting.
5. Pricing:
a. Verify that all products are accurately priced.
b. Verify that your shipping rates are configured correctly and that you aren’t taxing your shipping rates.
c. If you offer specialized group-based product pricing, make sure no one outside of those groups can view the special pricing.
6. Tax settings: Verify that your tax settings are correct.
7. Product names and images:
a. Check the spelling and names of all products.
b. Optimize every product by filling in all of the required meta information fields, including:

Title tag: Is the equivalent of the title tag.
Keywords tag: Keywords that can be specific to that specific product.
Description tag: A brief description for that specific product.

c. Attach an image to the product. If you do not have an image for a product, use the default Magento image with your company logo.
